BBC National Short Story Award 2011



Now in its 6th year, this is the BIG ONE from the Beeb. The Award, which is open to British nationals and UK residents aged 18 years or over, is for stories of up to 8,000 words.

Prizes:
1st - £15,000
2nd - £3,000
3 shortlisted stories - £500

Deadline is 5 May 2011.

Note: Authors must have had creative writing published (fiction, drama or poetry) by a UK publisher, an established UK print magazine or broadcast by a UK national radio station.

I'm Tony Butler, a writer.

My novels have been published and sold on the web, two are being published in hard copy, and as eBooks this year.

Unfortunately, original eBook publishers were American, and my current publisher, is registered in New Zealand.

It would appear that the BBC Competition, by specifying UK publishers, is...avoiding competition.

Hmm, I wrote and broadcast a series of, 'Morning Thoughts', for BBC Derby a few years ago...
