Birth of '100 Stories for Haiti'

Within a few days of the Haiti earthquake, author Greg McQueen posted a video on his blog: “Dear Twitterverse, I can't keep watching the news about Haiti on television or trending on Twitter without doing something. I woke up this morning with the idea that together we could make a book and donate all royalties to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.”

News spread and, before he knew it, more than 400 short stories arrived in Greg’s inbox from authors around the globe. Of these, 100 stories were chosen and the 80,000-word manuscript, 100 Stories for Haiti, was published in record-breaking time.

Proceeds from the sale of books go to the Red Cross disaster relief efforts to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.

British Comedy Guide

The website dedicated to all types of British TV and radio comedy – past and present - for those interested in writing sitcoms and sketches.

The British Comedy Guide has advice, lists writing opportunities and a rundown of what will be on our screens in the not-too-distant future (thereby saving us the bother of submitting our dazzlingly witty and original idea if someone has beaten us to it).

This fully-searchable site also has latest news from the comedy world, free tickets to upcoming TV and radio recordings and competitions.

Brainy Quote

Whatever you’re writing, heaven forbid that it should lack a suitable quote.

Search Brainy Quote by all kinds of topics (age, movies, music, science…) type of author (historian, inventor, novelist, soldier…) or author by name (Andy Warhol, Groucho Marx, Winston Churchill…) and Bob’s your uncle, or as Confucius put it: ‘And remember, no matter where you go, there you are.’ Yes.

My name in lights

Lights? I could be accused of gross exaggeration here. I do get a mention in the April issue of Writers’ Forum magazine though, which is pretty thrilling (for me).

More importantly, by miles, is the article in which my name appears. Turn to page 46 to read the special report on 100 Stories for Haiti and how children’s author, Greg McQueen, began, and continues to work tirelessly for, this fantastic project.
