Flash 500 - Fiction Competition


This great flash fiction competition is open to entries for the second quarter of 2012.


The open-themed contest has very generous prize money and all you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is write a short story of 500 words.

The judge this quarter is novelist, short story writer and lecturer, Jo Reed.

Prizes:
1st - £300 + publication in Words with JAM
2nd - £100
3rd - £50
Highly commended - a copy of The Writer's ABC Checklist (Secrets to Success)

Entry fee is £5 for one story or £8 for two.

Optional critiques £10 per story.

Deadline is 30 June 2012.

Children's Story Competition

If you enjoy writing for children, this short story competition could be for you. 

There is no particular theme but the organisers are looking for something imaginative.  


Write an original story for children aged between two and five years of age in 600 to 800 words with the first line, "Once upon a Munch time, there was a cow called Munch..."

Open to all UK residents aged 18 and over.

Prizes:
1st - £1,000 + publication on the website and story made into a downloadable book.
3 Runners-up - £500 + publication on the website.

Deadline is 4 June 2012.
